The engine in this layout is typical of the type used in later mobylettes such as the CM50 of the mid 70s. Mobylettes do not have a gearbox built into the engine, all the gearing is done by the belt drive and flywheel. These Mobylettes used a Gurtner carburettor throughout the entire production run.
Gurtner Carburettor
The gurtner carburettor was always used on all models of motobecane mobylettes, and on the float chamber it was stamped with the year of manufacture.
